Brown featured in USF's Sports Management Program

 - Chris Brown's notable educational and career advancements were recently featured in a University of San Francisco news story. Brother Brown, a 2012 initiate and 2014 graduate, has leveraged some impressive opportunities while a Master's degree candidate in Sports Management at USF.

After simultaneously interning at UC Berkeley and Stanford University's event management and social media departments, Brown secured a public relations position with the Golden State Warriors during their 2014/2015 championship season.

Smith receives Guy L. Grant Award

- Damariyé Smith, a Spring 2011 Iota Beta initiate, was awarded Kappa Alpha Psi's highest honor for undergraduate members, the Guy Levis Grant Award, at the its 82nd Grand Chapter Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The fraternity bestowed the Grant Award upon Brother Smith for "exemplary and extra meritorious collegiate community activities that reflectively advanced the Fraternity's image." He served two terms on the Western Province Board of Directors before being elected Grand Strategus at the 81st Grand Chapter Meeting in Houston, Texas.

At Sacramento State, Brother Smith's leadership and participation in multiple campus organizations lead to a paid position as a Program Assistant for the university's Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), where he works toward the retention and graduation of traditionally at-risk students. 

In a heartfelt acceptance speech, Brother Smith humbly thanked others for his achievements, expressing gratitude "for brothers who represent Kappa wherever you are in the country, for your hard work in the community, and the impact that you had and will continue to have on young African-American males such as myself."

Brother Smith is a candidate for a Master's degree in Communication Studies at California State University, Sacramento, and aspires to earn a doctoral degree in the field so that he may work as a college professor of Media and Culture.

Walker completes milestone toward legal career

- D'Andre Walker has earned a master's degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice at Arizona State University, a graduate school ranked 12th in the nation by U.S. News and World Report. The university admitted him to its Ph.D. program, where he will begin coursework in the Fall 2014 term.

Brother Walker, a Spring 2011 initiate of the Iota Beta Chapter, prepared for his post-graduate work through participation in Sacramento State's McNair Scholars program, which seeks to to increase graduate degree awards for students from underrepresented segments of society.
